The water table in North Teso is low which means that in order to provide safe water a borehole needs to be sunk. The current cost to sink one borehole is £7000. A recent borehole completed was in Orapak Village in Amuria which provided safe water for 620 people including the local primary school. School attendance improves once there is a supply of clean water in a community as children are now easily able to wash, have water to carry to school with them and don’t need to take time out of school to help the family collect water.
