The Pentecostal Assemblies of God Central Teso have over a number of years trained Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the Soroti and Serere Districts in savings and loans activities, thereby opening them to the possibility of improving living standards.
The groups are most often established in communities where water sources have been provided through PAG with TDT support. This enables the connections and structures that were made during the water project to be used as the basis for the SHGs.
The pictures show a savings strongbox from one of the groups, a video case study testimony from a group member and a photo of an SHG during a savings session.
Each project establishes 10 SHGs, who are encourage to work together at wider community level in what are known as Cluster Level Associations which allow them to collaborate on wider community initiatives.
